Summary of Action

“MO* for YO*” responds to a growing decline in news engagement among young people, particularly those without a university background. In an increasingly algorithm-driven media landscape, many young people are less exposed to reliable, in-depth information about global challenges.

The project brings together the editorial expertise of MO* and the youth-focused approach of StampMedia to develop new and accessible news formats. It focuses on complex global issues such as climate justice, migration, inequality, and political power, translating them into engaging multimedia content tailored to young audiences.

A central component of the project is a creative “test lab,” where new storytelling formats are developed and tested with the target group. These formats are designed to better align with how young people consume information, particularly through social media, while maintaining depth and reliability.

Young people are not only the audience but also active contributors. Through community-building and participatory processes, they are involved in shaping the content and evaluating its relevance and impact. This ensures that the formats remain responsive to their needs and perspectives.

The project also integrates its learnings directly into journalistic practice, strengthening the long-term ability of media organisations to engage younger audiences. In doing so, it contributes to reducing information inequalities and fostering a more informed, critical, and engaged generation.
