Summary of Action
“Give Us Peace!” responds to the growing need for deeper and more meaningful engagement of young people with topics such as conflict, peacebuilding, and global security. In a time marked by increasing militarisation and polarised public debates, many young people encounter these issues only superficially, without space for reflection or dialogue.
The project focuses on secondary school students, especially those who are less often involved in participatory learning initiatives. It supports them in moving from passive consumption of information to active thinking, expression, and engagement with global challenges.
A key element of the project is the training of university students as peer educators. These facilitators are equipped with knowledge and tools to lead interactive workshops in schools, creating a more relatable and engaging learning environment. Their work is strengthened through collaboration with a partner organisation from Rwanda, bringing valuable post-conflict perspectives into the programme.
Through a series of workshops, students explore the causes and consequences of conflicts, reflect on different perspectives, and discuss pathways to peace. In parallel, a creative competition encourages them to express their ideas through slogans and messages promoting peace, making their voices visible both in schools and online.
By combining education, peer learning, and creative expression, the project strengthens critical awareness and supports young people in becoming active contributors to a more peaceful and inclusive society. Its impact continues beyond the project through trained facilitators and long-term collaboration with schools.
