Comics for Climate Justice
General information
Project name: Des bulles pour la justice climatique
Country: France
Timeline: From 1 October 2025 to 31 December 2026
Lead Organisation: Peuples Solidaires Monts du Lyonnais
Summary of Action
The project aims to provide a core group of 60 high school students with knowledge on climate change and a toolbox to mobilise at least 1,000 youths inside and outside their school on climate justice. It also aims to provide schools, youth clubs, and libraries with a tool (a booklet) to mobilise young people on climate justice.
Students in a French high school will work with a group of young climate activists in West Africa to write and illustrate (through drawings, photos, etc.) a booklet on climate justice and climate change. Through online discussions, they will share their understanding and experience of climate change and discuss solutions to and adaptation to climate change.
Climate justice will be treated from socioeconomic, geographical, historical, and gender perspectives. Supported by teachers, they will research the specific issues and, with support from comic strip artists, transform their knowledge creatively into a graphic booklet on North-South aspects of climate change as a common but differentiated challenge.
Supported by Peuples Solidaires, they will make a communication plan to promote the booklet and its messages to around 1,000 youths.
These activities will:
- Raise awareness among the participants and provide specific knowledge about climate justice in a North-South perspective;
- Raise awareness about climate change and climate justice within the school among the 700 students and outside: in youth clubs, libraries, bookstores, and in other schools by sharing the work;
- Provide the core group with experience in climate action/mobilisation;
- The booklet will remain a mobilisation tool on climate justice.
