Summary of Action

Fast fashion is a human and environmental scourge and is constantly taking up more and more space in consumer practice. Reinvent Your Style builds on the Ressourcerie of Solidarité Afrique’s activity, a platform for awareness and actions on responsible consumption for the association’s target audience: young people and users.

With young people, the goal is to raise awareness of the social and environmental impacts of fast fashion and cell phone manufacturing, as well as the global interdependencies of consumption. The second phase will involve supporting them in initiatives within their school to, in turn, raise awareness among their peers and those around them, encouraging them to take action at their own level and break free from the diktats of fashion.

With the users of the Ressourcerie, who are mostly people in precarious situations, the goal is to make them aware that they are already players in responsible consumption by being members of the Ressourcerie, and to encourage them to continue their commitment.

The method will be the creation of a friendly space within the Resource Center, which will encourage discussion to accompany a group that will have formed toward the animation of workshops. In this case, the Ressourcerie is frequented by a significant number of women who find in this place a benevolent space for discussions, emancipation, which will allow them to strengthen their self-confidence to carry out actions and make women’s voices heard on the conditions experienced in the textile industry (which employs 80% of women in unacceptable conditions).
