Shifting boundaries: rural mobility and the global struggle
General information
Project name: Déplacer les lignes : mobilité rurale et lutte globale
Country: France
Timeline: From 15 September 2025 to 15 November 2026
Organisation: LE CRENEAU SOLIDARITES JEUNESSES délégation AURA
Summary of Action
The project aims to raise awareness and foster engagement around rural mobility, approached as a matter of social and environmental justice. In rural areas, both in France and elsewhere, mobility is a major territorial issue. Access to essential services (education, healthcare, employment, culture) is hindered by long distances and often limited or disorganized transport options. Young people and women are the most affected, with their autonomy and opportunities significantly restricted.
By connecting local challenges with global inequalities (through partnerships with associations in Thailand and Senegal), the project highlights how mobility injustice and climate change disproportionately impact the most vulnerable communities worldwide. It seeks to shift perceptions and foster collective, political responses.
At its core, the project offers a four-step engagement pathway for young people and local elected officials. This journey—from awareness to action—will culminate in a major community event co-organized by participating youth.
Key Components:
- A 4-step engagement process: community gathering, immersive climate workshop, film-debate, and hands-on bike repair session;
- Involvement of local partners (community centers, schools, youth employment services, refugee centers, local officials);
- Partnerships with Global South organizations (Thailand & Senegal);
- A smartphone video training and youth video-reporting contest;
- A Youth-led Eco-Mobility Festival;
- A youth-driven advocacy campaign targeting their elected representatives.
By the end of the project, 400 people will have been sensitized, 30 actively engaged, and at least 7 empowered as local change-makers. The project also aims to involve elected officials in making concrete commitments for developing sustainable and inclusive mobility in rural territories.
