Summary of Action

Equal Frequencies emerges from our work with young people aged 14 to 21 at Korenbeek in Brussels, where creativity and self-expression thrive. Many of these youth navigate challenges like migration, cultural identity, and socio-economic barriers. Radio becomes their powerful instrument—a medium to craft and share their stories, connect with others, and claim their place in conversations that often exclude them. Through the airwaves, their voices resonate, breaking silences and building bridges across divides.

The project is structured into four cycles, each focusing on a different type of boundary:

  • Physical Boundaries: Sharing migration stories and experiences of moving across borders.
  • Mental Boundaries: Addressing identity and psychological barriers they face.
  • Cultural Boundaries: Reflecting on shared and contrasting cultural realities.
  • Open Cycle: Giving young people the freedom to define their own themes.

Radio is the perfect tool—safe, creative, and empowering. These young people can speak and be heard, on their own terms, and connect with others. They’ll engage with unaccompanied minors in Fedasil centers, youth from El Warcha (Tunis), and QSB11 (Paris) to create podcasts, host events, and produce zines or public actions.

This project is about more than content. It’s about helping these young people take ownership of their stories, stand tall in conversations that often leave them behind, rise up in spaces where their voices are often silenced, and boldly claim their rightful place in shaping the world around them.
