General information

Summary of Action
“Let’s Forge Ties” is a participatory project that brings people together around themes of migration, diversity, and community. At its heart lies the artwork Tissons des liens by artist Bénédicte Moyersoen, a large-scale installation made with contributions from citizens across Belgium. The artwork symbolises connection, solidarity, and a welcoming society.
Using this artwork as a starting point, the project creates opportunities for encounters between newcomers and local residents in the Westhoek region. Through shared activities, dialogue, and collaboration, participants build relationships and strengthen social networks.
The initiative focuses on fostering mutual understanding across generations and cultures. It encourages people to reflect together on migration and diversity, not as abstract issues, but as lived realities within their own communities.
By making these themes visible through art and participation, the project helps to shift perspectives and highlight the positive contributions of diversity. It creates space for open conversation, shared experiences, and collective learning.
Ultimately, “Let’s Forge Ties” aims to support inclusive community building, where respect, connection, and active participation form the foundation for living together in diversity.
