Summary of Action
The project “Activa’t. Joves referents per a la justícia global als barris” is an educational and community action promoted by Street Soccer Barcelona, with the pedagogical support of the Escola de Cultura de Pau and the collaboration of entities expert in transformative communication and urban art. The objective is to promote the active, rooted, and critical participation of young people in situations of vulnerability in the neighborhoods of Torre Baró, la Verneda, and el Poble-sec, through their link with local facilities and involvement in transformative educational practices.
The proposal was born as a response to a reality marked by structural inequalities, symbolic and institutional barriers, and a generalized absence of non-formal educational offerings adapted to young people in precarious contexts. Many of these young people—especially migrants or of migrant origin—find themselves distant from discourses and spaces linked to global justice and often become victims of hate speech. The project seeks to reverse this situation based on a rooted and innovative community strategy, which integrates sport, critical communication, and participatory art as educational tools.
The action is deployed through different phases and activities:
- An initial phase of participatory co-design with the facilities and young people to adapt the project to the realities of each neighborhood;
- Weekly or fortnightly sports spaces energized with the football3 methodology;
- Workshops on global justice, transformative communication, and audiovisual creation;
- Artistic mural interventions and community days by territory;
- Training for young sports energizers in a culture of peace;
- A process of systematizing good practices and disseminating content.
The expected results are:
- Strengthening the link between youth and community facilities;
- Production and dissemination of alternative narratives through audiovisual products and artistic actions;
- Validation of a replicable model of non-formal education with new youth audiences.
The action is primarily aimed at less involved young people, victims of intersectional discrimination or in a situation of recent migration, and promotes their evolution within the pyramid of commitment, moving from initial levels of disengagement (level 0-1) to levels of significant commitment (level 3-5), through spaces for socialization, expression, and active participation.
This project contributes to a more cohesive, fair, and critical European citizenship, strengthening community ties, making often excluded voices visible, and promoting a transformative education rooted in the territory. Through its communicative and educational dimension, Activa’t connects peripheral young people with the values of global justice and reinforces the collective commitment to building a more inclusive and sustainable world.
