Bendula’s Cake Competitions
General information
Project name: Bendulas kagekonkurrencer
Country: Denmark
Timeline: From 1 March 2026 to 31 December 2026
Lead Organisation: Bendula
Summary of Action
Bendula wants to engage singing choir children and their families, people who love baking and eating cake, in an event where you can meet Gambian culture. All to raise awareness about Gambian children’s school and education opportunities as well as their general living conditions. We do this through cake competitions, where community, creativity, food, and music go hand in hand.
The target group is the less attentive, those who do not normally encounter information about living conditions in other countries and therefore have not yet been interested in global challenges. Through the activities, they move along the engagement pyramid from curious to action.
We hold four cake competitions in four cities. At each competition, the school choir performs African songs, accompanied by a Gambian musician. In a cozy and inclusive setting, participants gain insight into the living conditions of children and young people in Gambia, among other things, through video stories recorded by children and young people in Gambia, where they talk about their lives, hopes, and dreams.
