Cultivate the Connection
General information
Project name: Dyrk forbindelsen
Country: Denmark
Timeline: From 1 March 2026 to 30 April 2027
Lead Organisation: Mellemamerika Komiteen (MAK)
Summary of Action
Cultivate the Connection is a practical course where allotment owners cultivate the connection between their own land and communities across continents through permaculture, food sovereignty, and global stories.
MAK’s core volunteers conduct field research in Guatemala in collaboration with IMAP, where they collect stories, audio material, and knowledge about cultivation methods and the conditions of indigenous people and small farmers. They also explore how IMAP has given local people access to plots of land that are cultivated as utility gardens using permaculture techniques.
The collected material is translated into a Danish podcast series and interactive workshops with allotment owners, which make global issues concrete and tangible by connecting them to the target group’s own garden.
The project strengthens the target group’s critical understanding of global food systems and inspires action in their own garden, while creating communities, new networks, and dissemination materials that can live on after the project period.
