From Andes to Aarhus
General information
Project name: Fra Andes til Aarhus
Country: Denmark
Timeline: From 1 March 2026 to 14 September 2026
Lead Organisation: Saving Rivers and Lakes
Summary of Action
“From Andes to Aarhus” connects everyday consumption in Denmark to environmental impacts in Peru, focusing on freshwater pollution caused by mining and agricultural production. The project highlights how global supply chains link local actions in Denmark to environmental and social consequences in the Global South.
The initiative particularly targets audiences who are not typically engaged with global issues. By making these connections visible and tangible, the project aims to deepen understanding of how individual and collective choices influence ecosystems and communities elsewhere in the world.
The central activity is an interactive tent installation during Aarhus Festuge 2026. Visitors will experience films, photographs, and personal stories produced by Saving Rivers and Lakes, offering insight into the realities faced by communities in Peru.
Students from Aarhus University contribute to the project by adding literary and reflective perspectives as part of their academic work. This collaboration enriches the content and creates a bridge between education, storytelling, and public engagement.
Through this immersive approach, the project encourages visitors to reflect critically on global environmental challenges and their own role within them, while motivating more conscious and responsible engagement with sustainability issues.
