General information
Project name: Hoperunners
Country: Denmark
Timeline: From 1 February 2025 to 31 December 2026
Lead Organisation: International Aid Services (IAS)
Partner Organisation: Singida Town Center Church
Summary of Action
The purpose of the project is to engage young people in advocating for access to quality education for children and youth with disabilities in Tanzania. These children and youth face stigmatization due to their disabilities, and their right to education is not upheld. Through Hoperunner, we are working to change this.
The project focuses on young people as agents of change and operates with four target groups:
- Target Group 1 consists of folk high school students attending a summer course in Mariager.
- Target Group 2 includes running enthusiasts in Copenhagen.
- Target Group 3 comprises young social media users.
- Target Group 4 is a volunteer project group.
The main activities are running events and social media campaigns. The target groups participate in runs to raise awareness about the right to education. Their understanding of the living conditions and stigmatization of children and youth with disabilities is fostered through a photo exhibition and documentary screenings.
