The Earth’s Expensive Clothes

General information

Project name: Klodens Dyre Klæder
Country: Denmark
Timeline: From 1 March 2026 to 1 April 2027
Lead Organisation: Soroptimist International Odder

Summary of Action

Purpose: To disseminate knowledge and motivate women in particular to seek knowledge, share knowledge, reflect, and take a stand in relation to the consumption and overconsumption of textiles and the burden on both the environment and the health of poor workers that our consumption in the West poses globally.

We will raise awareness of the impact our choices have on people and the environment globally. We will engage via social media, lectures, and workshops that enable participants to take action and inspire the formation of local networks.

Target group: Women of all ages. Because women account for the vast majority of purchases of clothing and textiles, and there is a lack of attention to the impact our choice of textiles has on people and the environment in a global perspective.

Main activities: Campaign on social media, cinema advertisements, participation in events in the city. Culminating with a 1-day festival in February 2027 with several lectures on the problem and with inspiration via talks, workshops, and stands on how we can all act more appropriately.
