Voices from Lahore – Identity Between Blessings and Borders
General information
Project name: Voices from Lahore – Identity Between Blessings and Borders
Country: Denmark
Timeline: From 15 February 2026 to 1 December 2026
Lead Organisation: Kulturforeningen Meigart
Summary of Action
“Voices from Lahore” provides new perspectives on Pakistan through authentic, sensual stories from Lahore’s art and activist community—with a focus on the third gender Hijra, women’s rights activists, and modern artists.
The participants tell their own stories through photography, film, sound, podcasts, music, and short texts. The sensual—sounds, food, music, and atmosphere—brings the audience close and makes human rights themes such as gender identity, equality, and freedom of expression present in an innovative way.
The project will be released in at least four places: two libraries, a diverse residential area in Frederiksberg, and the KU.BE cultural center, where we reach target groups who do not normally encounter this type of story.
Long-term exhibitions and events with moving images, music, and workshops will be established. Here, participants will have an experience that goes beyond traditional education and creates critical understanding, curiosity, and new perspectives on a country and a culture that we know relatively little about in Denmark.
