Summary of Action

The project “Information and Action for All – Plain Steps towards a Sustainable Future” by Taksvärkki and the Peace Union of Finland is based on the idea that knowledge and agency belong to all young people. The goal of the project is to reduce inequalities and involve more young people in promoting equality and sustainable development. The SDGs related to the project are 4, 10 and 16, with a special focus on inequality and its root causes.

In the project, students (approximately 16-20 years old) in the youth field, as well as groups of youth worker students and teacher students (approximately 20-29 years old) receive training. The project uses plain language (simple Finnish language), pictures and pedagogical drama, especially accessible drama and storytelling, as its methods. The aim is to introduce global education into the field of youth work and provide tools for critical understanding within youth work.

Through this project, students will gain additional skills and tools to address global justice and development issues in their work with young people. They will be introduced to plain language, pictures and drama as methods for addressing global challenges.

The project will produce clear and easy to understand teaching materials on promoting equality. The materials will be developed in collaboration with a plain language expert. The Zambian youth organization Barefeet Theatre will share their expertise and inspiring examples of what young people are currently doing in their communities to ensure that knowledge and agency are accessible to all young people.
