Summary of Action
My Story – Our World project focuses on fighting stereotypes and simplified stories, increasing the diversity of communication, and strengthening the participation and agency of young people and immigrants. We want to produce content that highlights humanity and opens up connections. We aim to support youth to imagine a more positive world and set a different example.
In this project, young people become ambassadors of communication and they bring more positive and genuine perspective to the fore. The changes that the project aims to achieve are to strengthen young people’s critical media literacy and agency, build community, understanding, and trust. At the same time, we broaden people’s perspective and understanding of how every person is a thinking and feeling individual who has a lot to tell and give to others.
The aim is to increase understanding and to take joint responsibility for promoting a more inclusive, fairer, more equal, and more sustainable world. The project promotes the goals of Agenda 2030, especially gender equality and equity (goals 5 and 10).
The results that we aim at are that all the active participants get to the critical understanding stage and above in the engagement pyramid. Young participators will get to multipliers and some of them even to innovators.
The action plan: Recruitment of young people, planning and organizing. Workshops and training for the youth. Meetings, camp, and workshops with the refugees and other storytellers: planning the communication campaign together. Implementing the communication campaign. Monitoring, evaluation, and reflection together.
