General information

Country: Finland
Timeline: From 1 January 2026 to 30 June 2026

Summary of Action

The “Nasiib” project focuses on the intersection of climate change and gender equality, with particular attention to the situation of girls in the Global South, especially in Somalia. It is developed in partnership with Somali youth and a maternity clinic in Afgoi, creating a strong link between local realities in Finland and global challenges.

The project engages a group of 12 to 15 young migrants aged 18–29 living in Finland, who are currently outside the labour market. Through weekly meetings over four months, participants build knowledge, strengthen peer support, and develop their capacity for active engagement.

The initiative aims to empower these young people by enhancing their critical thinking, participation, and advocacy skills at individual, community, and societal levels. It also challenges gender stereotypes and raises awareness about global inequalities affecting girls and women.

By connecting lived experiences with global perspectives, the project fosters dialogue on climate justice and gender equality. Participants are supported to express their views and take an active role in shaping conversations on these issues.

The project concludes with a collaborative final output and a seminar, where participants present their insights and take on the role of experts. In doing so, the project amplifies youth voices and contributes to broader awareness and engagement on equality and climate challenges.
