Summary of Action
The project “Nature Belongs to Everyone” focuses on strengthening the role of global perspectives and sustainability in nature and environmental education in Finland. It supports educators in deepening their understanding of global environmental interconnections and integrating sustainability goals more effectively into their work.
Through training, webinars, and workshops, participants develop their critical understanding of their own attitudes, skills, and approaches to environmental education. The project connects ecological and scientific knowledge with broader sustainability competencies, including social sustainability and global responsibility.
A key element of the project is the promotion of equality, particularly gender equality. Educators will receive targeted training and materials to help them address these issues in their teaching, ensuring a more inclusive approach to environmental education.
The concept of planetary well-being is central to the project, highlighting the role of humans within broader ecological systems and the need for systemic change. By incorporating global examples and perspectives, the project encourages a more holistic and interconnected understanding of sustainability.
In the long term, the project contributes to the development of more inclusive, high-quality, and impactful nature and environmental education. Its outcomes will be integrated into curricula and shared through platforms such as MAPPA.fi, making materials and methods widely accessible to educators.
