Summary of Action

“The Global Cut” is an eight-month project designed to strengthen young people’s understanding of global responsibility and sustainable development, while encouraging their active engagement. It connects youth aged 15–20 from Finland and Kenya through shared learning experiences and creative expression.

A central component of the project is a series of school visits across both countries, creating opportunities for interaction and collaboration. Through dialogue, participants explore the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from different perspectives, fostering mutual understanding between the Global North and South.

The project also includes a two-month short video competition, placing youth voices at the centre. Participants create and share videos on social media, expressing their views on global challenges. Selected entries will be showcased during final events held simultaneously in Helsinki and Makongeni.

Through these activities, thousands of young people will increase their knowledge of global issues while strengthening their sense of agency and participation. Schools will benefit from lasting resources, including a learning material package and a final documentary, ensuring continued impact beyond the project’s duration.

By encouraging participants to move from awareness to action, the project aims to empower young people as active changemakers. Partner schools are also encouraged to establish sustainability teams, embedding these themes into everyday school life and supporting long-term engagement.
