Summary of Action
Resistance on Stage is a training and theatre programme addressing global challenges such as discrimination, social inequalities, and cultural exclusion, focusing on young people (aged 18–30) with a migrant background in Turin. These youths often face barriers to education, civic participation, and equal opportunities.
The project seeks to transform these vulnerabilities into spaces of empowerment, creativity, and leadership.
The initiative pursues three objectives: fostering critical reflection on discrimination; connecting the memory of past struggles – partisan, feminist, civil, environmental – with today’s demands for justice; and using artistic tools to generate inclusive narratives.
Expected results include the empowerment of 20 participants, the co-creation of a theatre performance, and its presentation in at least four public events, reaching over 400 community members and amplifying the impact through associations and local networks. The process culminates in the co-designed public event of March 21 2027, marking the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Activities combine non-formal education, creative writing, and social theatre. The programme features visits to symbolic places of memory and activism, a residential workshop, and collective rehearsals. The process is enriched by InMenteItaca trainers, some with a migrant background, and external contributions from activists in gender, LGBTQIA+, environmental, labour rights, and anti-ableist movements.
A distinctive feature is the transformative gender approach, not limited to promoting equality but actively challenging stereotypes, power relations, and exclusionary practices. By integrating decolonial and intersectional perspectives, the project equips participants to become agents of change and future community leaders, contributing to the 2030 Agenda.
