Summary of Action

This project addresses the global challenge of climate change and its connection to migration, with a focus on creating tangible change at the local level. Its main goal is to significantly reduce the environmental impact of two schools in Pinerolo, Italy, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

A central element of the project is the creation of a physical “Sustainability Office” in each school. These offices serve as hubs for action and coordination. One school (Liceo Porporato) focuses on improving the sustainability of the school building by reducing energy consumption and applying the municipal climate action plan. The other (Liceo Curie) focuses on influencing the behaviour and lifestyle of the school community.

In particular, the project addresses consumption patterns by promoting more sustainable clothing choices and raising awareness about the environmental and social impact of fast fashion. It also explores the global dimension of climate change, including its links to migration, with references to contexts such as Bangladesh.

Planned activities include workshops with experts, training on a sustainability web app, an initial environmental impact assessment, and the definition of concrete goals and actions for each school. Participants will also create two podcast series to share insights and experiences.

The project concludes with a public event to present results and encourage wider community engagement. Through this process, students become active contributors to sustainability, translating awareness into concrete action within their schools and beyond.
