Project name: Young Voices for Regional Resilience

Timeline: From 4 January 2025 to 31 December 2025
Lead Organisation: biedrība Cita Daugavpils
Summary of Action
Young people are the foundation for the long-term resilience and sustainable development of the Latgale region. To ensure that the voice of youth in the fields of resilience and sustainable development is represented in the near future, young people must be involved in these processes now. It is essential to work with youth to identify participation formats and resilience skill-building opportunities that are appealing and relevant to them.
Experiences from young people in both European and Global South countries can inspire and motivate others to engage and contribute to strengthening the sustainability of their own regions. This approach helps young people discover and create participation opportunities that are interesting and suitable for them, become actively involved in their local communities, and grow into future leaders of the Latgale region.
The aim of the project is to highlight and promote youth participation in advancing regional resilience and sustainability. To achieve this goal, the project will implement five interlinked activities, including a co-creation event, a social campaign, an outdoor event, a resilience guide, and a “media breakfast.” These activities will include four in-person events with the participation of at least 20 young people, seven municipal youth coordinators, five policymakers and representatives of political and development discourse connected to Latgale and the Eastern border area, seven regional and municipal media representatives as well as organisations engaged in media activities, and at least five young activists from European regions and the Global South who are already recognised as regional resilience leaders.
