Summary of Action

“Global Food Market” is an educational board game based on Fair Trade principles and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), designed for young people. The aim of the game is to foster global citizenship, encourage critical thinking, and develop an understanding of how our everyday consumption choices impact the world.

Through a playful and engaging format, young people explore supply chains, analyze the importance of sustainable food systems, and learn how global market mechanisms affect human rights, the climate, and biodiversity. The game invites participants to uncover the “dark side” of popular products such as avocados, bananas, almonds, strawberries, and cocoa beans, revealing their journey from plantations to our tables/refrigerators.

During the game, participants become familiar with the concept of the Global South and the roots of global inequality; human rights violations related to the exploitation of women and children, unfair wages; the impact of climate change, the principles of responsible consumption.

Project goal: To create and implement the educational game, to understand global issues and gain the knowledge and competences needed to become active and conscious global citizens. Through this project, we seek to:

  • Develop and test a universal educational tool that can be used in schools, youth centers, NGOs;
  • Increase youth engagement in civic initiatives and promote conscious decision-making in everyday life;
  • Strengthen young people’s understanding of global supply chains, climate justice, Fair Trade principles;
  • Empower youth organizations and schools—particularly in rural areas and municipalities with national minorities—to non-formal education practices and SDG-based educational tools.
