Summary of Action
The project Think Globally, Act Locally addresses the growing gap between young people’s awareness of global challenges and their ability to take meaningful local action. Many Lithuanian youth express concern about climate change, social inequality, and misinformation but feel powerless to contribute to real change. The project aims to empower young people aged 15–18 from the Tauragė region to become active, critically thinking citizens capable of connecting global issues to their local realities.
Through a four-day interactive training led by two experienced facilitators and supported by four youth workers, 24 participants will explore topics such as sustainable development, media literacy, social inclusion, and civic engagement. At least half of the group will come from fewer-opportunity backgrounds—young people from rural areas, low-income families, foster care, or with disabilities—ensuring full inclusiveness and equal participation.
Before the training, a survey will be conducted in local schools to identify which Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are most relevant to local youth. Based on these findings, the program will combine experiential learning, creative workshops, and community dialogue.
After the training, participants will organize at least five local multiplier events in their schools or communities, sharing what they have learned and promoting active citizenship among their peers.
Expected results include stronger critical thinking, increased civic participation, and greater awareness of global interdependence. The project will also produce reusable educational tools and youth-led initiatives supporting long-term impact.
