Summary of Action

The project “You(th)ACTS”, implemented by the Economic Research Centre (ERC), seeks to empower Lithuanian citizens—especially young people and less active social groups—to engage meaningfully in addressing global challenges such as social inequality, climate change, sustainability, gender empowerment, and human rights.

Its goal is to foster critical thinking, empathy, and a sense of responsibility by strengthening collaboration between civil society in Lithuania and Rwanda, while showcasing the legacy of Father Hermann Schulz as an inspiring example of solidarity and long-term partnership.

The main target group is young people, particularly those from Lithuanian regions with limited access to global education opportunities. Through creative and educational workshops, participants will explore global issues using authentic stories collected from Rwandan communities. A secondary group includes educators, civil society representatives, and local community members who will take part in project events and discussions.

Key activities include collecting audiovisual materials from Rwanda, disseminating these stories through social media, public events, and publications, and organizing youth workshops in Lithuania. The project ensures the ethical inclusion of Rwandan voices, highlighting equality, dignity, and partnership. It also emphasizes gender equality by examining how Rwanda’s legal and social frameworks affect opportunities for both women and men by also engaging youth to find ways to act for global change.

“You(th)ACTS” ultimately promotes youth empowerment, intercultural understanding, and active citizenship for a more just and sustainable world.
