Climate under the microscope – how to think critically about global warming

Summary of Action

This project aims to strengthen the information, climate, and social skills of students by developing critical thinking, fact-checking abilities, and the capacity to engage consciously with global challenges. It responds to key issues such as difficulty in distinguishing reliable sources, susceptibility to disinformation, and limited access to climate and global education.

The project is implemented in three stages:

1. Preparatory phase: Initial setup and recruitment of participants.
2. Workshops: A series of sessions focused on climate change and mechanisms of disinformation.
3. Co-creation process: Participants design, prototype, test, and present an educational game, which will later be available in local libraries and community centres.

Through these activities, young people gain the skills to recognise manipulation, understand global interdependencies, and take informed action towards climate justice. The co-creation process strengthens their sense of agency and active participation.

An important element of the project is the involvement of scientists from the Global South, who respond to participants’ questions through video recordings. Their perspectives, grounded in lived experience of climate change, enrich the global dimension of the project, contribute to decolonising knowledge, and deepen participants’ understanding of diverse global realities.

The result is both a lasting educational tool and a group of young people who transition from passive recipients of information to active, responsible participants in society.
