General information
Project name: Connect for Global Night
Country: Poland
Timeline: From 1 February 2026 to 31 January 2027
Lead Organisation: Fundacja Antares
Partner Organisation: Association Jeunes science de Tunisie – Club de Djerba
Summary of Action
The “Connect for Global Night” project aims to increase young people’s understanding of contemporary global challenges—particularly light pollution—and to develop their civic and technical competences through joint educational activities, data collection, and the creation of a social campaign. It responds to the need for deeper global education, critical thinking, and environmentally responsible attitudes among youth.
A total of 50 participants (25 from Poland and 25 from Tunisia) will take part in parallel workshop cycles focused on global interdependencies, astronomy, ecology, and the basics of electronics and programming. Working in small groups, they will build their own light detectors, conduct nighttime sky measurements, and collaboratively analyse the collected data, comparing perspectives shaped by the different realities of their countries.
The results will be used to create the digital educational campaign “Start Shading!”, aimed at young people aged 15–19. The project guides participants through successive levels of the DEAR engagement pyramid—from awareness and critical analysis to hands-on experimentation and active civic engagement.
The project seeks to achieve increased awareness of global interconnections, stronger environmental responsibility, and improved intercultural relations between youth from the EU and Tunisia. It will result in lasting improvements in both technical and civic competences, as well as educational materials that can be reused in future activities.
