Here and There. Young people and migration

General information

Project name: Tu i stamtąd. Młodzież wobec migracji
Country: Poland
Timeline: From 2 March 2026 to 30 September 2026
Lead Organisation: NOMADA Stowarzyszenie na Rzecz Integracji Społeczeństwa Wielokulturowego

Summary of Action

The project aims to deepen young people’s understanding, reflection, and empathy regarding migration—both locally and globally—while strengthening their social competencies and critical thinking in response to contemporary global challenges.

Although it includes an anti-discrimination component, it is grounded in global education principles, expanding awareness of global interdependencies and fostering a sense of shared responsibility.

It responds to the need, identified by the Nomada Association, to counter rising xenophobic, racist, and sexist attitudes among youth and to address the absence of global and anti-discrimination education in schools.

The project consists of two complementary components:

  • A series of educational workshops in upper-secondary schools. Students will explore the causes of migration, learn key migration-related concepts, analyze media narratives, and examine the nature of discrimination and its links to migration. The workshops will use interactive methods that encourage reflection and cooperation.
  • A creative process leading to the development of a zine, featuring interviews with people with migration experience. The publication will be co-created by students in collaboration with women from the Global South, offering a platform for storytelling, reflection, and intercultural dialogue.

The project supports positive attitudinal change and meaningful engagement—moving youth from indifference and stereotypes toward empathy, openness, and shared responsibility. Participants will gain tools for critical thinking, understanding global interconnections, and building respectful relationships.

In the long term, the project will help strengthen a school culture of dialogue, increase young people’s resilience to disinformation and hate narratives, and embed global education perspectives in school and community practice.
