Summary of Action

The “Truth about Refugees” project aims to foster greater empathy among young people toward refugees by combining education with social engagement. It includes a series of educational workshops, virtual meetings with refugees, and mini-campaign projects that help participants better grasp the challenges faced by refugees and the complexities of migration.

These activities are designed to cultivate critical thinking, reduce stereotypes, and build empathy for people from different cultures. A core aspect of the project is the creation of information and campaign materials by young people, actively involving them in counteracting prejudice and enhancing their social engagement.

The project will implement four workshops in each of the five schools, covering topics such as analyzing stereotypes, understanding their formation, and exploring ways to deconstruct them. Participants will engage in creative workshops focused on designing social campaigns and anti-stereotype initiatives, which will be shared on social media.

They will critically examine media narratives about refugees, learning to identify and question stereotypes and biases. Through workshops and discussions, participants will develop skills to critically interpret media content and adopt attitudes of openness and understanding toward migration.

The effectiveness of the project will be evaluated through surveys and attitude assessments conducted before and after the workshops. Expected outcomes include an increase in knowledge about refugees for 90% of participants, a shift in attitudes for 70%, and increased social engagement for 40%. The project aligns with the goals of the Connect for Global Change program, promoting greater awareness of global challenges and fostering intercultural cooperation.
