Project name: Czas na zmiany

Summary of Action
Our project is aimed at people aged 14–19, living in Kętrzyn in north-eastern Poland surrounded by post-industrial areas, away from large agglomerations. Kętrzyn is struggling with a high level of unemployment. Young people declare their willingness to go to large cities, which exacerbates demographic, social, and economic problems. Youth is separated from modern social activity. The offer of local institutions is mostly aimed at seniors; the youth environment, apart from the school offer, remains lonely and neglected. The city does not include people from secondary schools in its educational activities for environmental protection. The city authorities focus on goals such as fighting pollution, without addressing other problems and development challenges in the world.
The activities planned in the project were developed at a meeting of the initiative group, which itself defined its goals and needs. They will be implemented by young people—for young people—with the support of experienced teachers and educators. The main goal of the project is to equip young people with knowledge and skills enabling them to understand global interdependence and their own role and responsibility for activities for sustainable development.
By participating in educational workshops on responsible consumption, culinary workshops, educational meetings on healthy eating, and ecological picnics, young people can change their own eating habits. Participating in social campaigns regarding shopping in local stores or in accordance with the “zero waste” principle may change the consumer habits of young residents of Kętrzyn. Young people will learn through active participation and their own involvement.
