Unsung Heroes – Global Education Mentorship Programme
General information
Project name: Unsung Heroes – Global Education Mentorship Programme
Country: Poland
Timeline: From 1 February 2026 to 30 June 2026
Lead Organisation: Fundacja Unsung Heroes
Summary of Action
The Global Education Mentorship Programme aims to strengthen global competences, critical engagement, and a sense of shared responsibility among young EU citizens, particularly those from regions with limited access to global education, such as Eastern Poland. It creates meaningful connections between young people in Poland and peers and mentors from countries heavily affected by climate change, forced migration, and educational inequalities, including Chad, Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya, Niger, Mali, and Bangladesh.
The project follows a structured five-month sequence of activities:
- Recruitment phase: Students from three universities in the Podlaskie region and youth from partner countries are selected.
- Workshops: Mentors from partner countries lead sessions for participants in Poland, while experts from Poland deliver workshops for young people abroad.
- Team collaboration: In May, participants are grouped into 12 international teams working on two outputs:
- A “map of understanding” exploring differences and similarities in how global challenges are perceived.
- A concept for a social-impact solution addressing a selected global challenge.
- Final outputs: In June, teams prepare presentations and video materials that are shared across partner networks in Poland and internationally.
The project leads to meaningful change by increasing knowledge of global interdependencies, strengthening intercultural empathy, enhancing civic competences, and building lasting relationships between youth from the EU and the Global South. Participants move from passive awareness to becoming active, responsible citizens capable of co-creating global change.
