Summary of Action
“Color Beauty / Blindness” is a participatory performing arts project that creates space for young people of African-Slovenian and African descent to share their experiences and perspectives. Through creative expression, the project explores themes of identity, belonging, and systemic inequality.
At the heart of the project is a series of workshops in movement, voice, rap, and theatre. Participants translate their lived experiences—including everyday forms of exclusion and microaggressions—into a collective artistic performance. This process supports self-expression, confidence, and a stronger sense of visibility.
The project is guided by mentors with African-Slovenian backgrounds, whose experience and leadership ensure that the stories shared are grounded in lived realities. Their role also provides participants with relatable role models and strengthens the authenticity of the project.
The final performance is recorded and developed into an educational video, which is then used during a school tour. Through screenings and moderated discussions, students are encouraged to reflect on inequality, racism, and inclusion in a constructive and open way.
A broader digital campaign extends the reach of the project, bringing these conversations to a wider audience. By combining art, education, and dialogue, the project contributes to greater awareness and understanding, while empowering young people to actively shape the narratives that affect their lives.
