Summary of Action

The Glokal Scouts – Thinking globally, acting locally project aims to empower Scout leaders with the skills and critical understanding needed to address global challenges outlined by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It equips them with tools to integrate these topics into Scout educational programs while fostering an awareness of the interconnectedness of global and local issues.

Through practical workshops and interactive methods, Scout leaders will gain knowledge in global education and learn to adapt these concepts for different age groups. Members will engage in activities to develop a proactive understanding of the SDGs, focusing on health and well-being (SDG 3), responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), peace and justice (SDG 16), and global partnerships (SDG 17). A key aspect of the project is forming a bilateral partnership with a country in the Global South, enabling a deeper understanding of global challenges and fostering long-term collaboration.

This process encourages members to transition from passive participation to active engagement, while leaders adopt a guiding role in promoting sustainable practices within the organization and local communities. The project seeks to shift perceptions among Scout leaders and members about the importance of global issues. By fostering critical thinking and providing tools for analyzing complex problems, it empowers participants to develop sustainable solutions, contributing to more responsible and impactful actions in their organizations and everyday lives.
