Summary of Action
“The Green Spot of Zasavje” responds to the urgent need for a more sustainable and socially just future in a region undergoing significant transition. Zasavje, historically shaped by heavy industry, is now rethinking its development path in the face of environmental challenges and social inequalities.
The project takes a bottom-up approach, focusing on the role individuals can play in creating change through everyday choices. By promoting the idea that “less is more,” it encourages responsible consumption, reduced waste, and stronger local connections.
Building on existing community initiatives such as the Library of Things in Trbovlje, the project creates an open and inclusive space where people can learn, share, and experiment with sustainable practices. Young people play a central role as multipliers of knowledge, alongside women, socially excluded groups, and the wider community.
Through workshops, trainings, public events, exhibitions, and an online campaign, participants explore practical ways to live more sustainably. Global challenges such as climate change are translated into concrete, local actions that people can apply in their daily lives.
By strengthening the Green Point as a regional hub, the project fosters cooperation, inclusion, and long-term engagement. It supports a transition towards a more resilient community, where sustainability and social well-being go hand in hand.
