Summary of Action
From Style To Speaking Up: together for system change in the fashion industry. While many young people in the Netherlands worry about the climate crisis, they often feel powerless and unaware of how their consumption connects to exploitation (mainly young women in the Global South) and the growing footprint of the fashion industry. This action by JKB helps to address that.
The action aims to shift young people from passive concern to critical, engaged citizenship by increasing their understanding of global inequalities and empowering them to advocate for systemic change in the fashion sector.
Central to the project is our Creative Academy in which young creators from the Netherlands collaborate with peers from the Global South to share experiences and co-create an artistic campaign project that exposes the hidden impacts of ultra-fast fashion.
This artwork becomes the foundation of a national awareness campaign, reaching at least 100,000 young people online and engaging them with stories, videos, and interactive content.
The project concludes with a youth policy panel that formulates recommendations and presents them to policymakers during targeted political moments.
Expected results include increased critical awareness, stronger cross-cultural understanding, active youth participation, and sustained momentum for fair and sustainable fashion policies.
