Summary of Action

The Problem
The challenges of sustainability, inequality & fair trade are global issues that require local action and awareness. Primary school students (aged 8-12) often lack access to engaging, practical education that prepares them to understand and address these challenges while fostering critical thinking, collaboration & responsibility.

Goal of the Action
The action aims to empower primary school students to become active global citizens by fostering awareness of sustainability, fair trade, and social entrepreneurship. Through hands-on activities and real-world examples, the action will equip students with knowledge and 21st-century skills to address global challenges locally.

Expected Results
Approximately 200 students and 250 education professionals will increase their understanding of fair trade, sustainability, social entrepreneurship and global citizenship. Students will develop critical skills such as creative thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving while creating innovative projects. Education professionals will gain tools to integrate global citizenship education into their curricula, ensuring long-term impact & the action will also have wider effects in society.

Activities
Below are the key activities:

  • ‘Duurzaam Ondernemen’ (Sustainable Entrepreneurship) Program: Students will design and develop their own fictional social enterprise. This includes exploring the production process, creating marketing plans, and presenting their products at an end market.
  • Training Sessions for Team members: Education professionals will receive workshops to integrate global citizenship themes into their teaching.
  • Social Entrepreneurs’ Engagement: Local social entrepreneurs will participate in sessions to share their experiences, inspiring students to think innovatively.

This action provides an engaging, practical approach to equip young learners with the tools to create meaningful change.
