Summary of Action

This project addresses the rising polarization and intolerance towards religious and cultural backgrounds. It focuses on the youth’s knowledge and engagement with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aims to promote healthier lifestyles. The project will engage 1,400+ pupils from four high schools in the Netherlands, focusing on SDGs, world religions, and SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. It aims to increase respect and tolerance towards people with other religious backgrounds and empower youth to make sustainable changes in their lifestyles.

Key objectives include:

  1. Increasing respect and tolerance towards people from different religious backgrounds.
  2. Engaging youth in SDGs and encouraging healthier lifestyles.
  3. Raising awareness about the position of women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and disabled people.

Participants will:

  • Learn about world religions, humanism, and their personal role in polarizing or discriminating situations.
  • Understand the importance of SDGs, particularly SDG 3, and decide on ways to improve their lifestyle.
  • Contact decision-makers about the position of women and disabled people.
  • Communicate their learnings to their peers and community.

Activities

The activities include:

  • Founding the Connect-for-Global-Change youth panel.
  • Project days focused on world religions, SDGs, and SDG 3 for 1,400+ pupils in the Netherlands.
  • Presentations, games, internet research, and live interactions to increase knowledge and change attitudes.
  • Collaboration with over 400 youth in 4 partner countries to follow the same programs.
