SDG dialogue sessions for and by young people

General information

Project name: SDG’s dialoogsessies voor en door jongeren
Country: The Netherlands
Timeline: From 15 February 2026 to 15 February 2027
Lead Organisation: Che Amigo

Summary of Action

The proposed action strengthens young people’s critical understanding and meaningful engagement with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It addresses the lack of inclusive, structured opportunities for youth to discuss global challenges, explore diverse perspectives and translate insights into concrete action.

The project is built around the Deep Democracy methodology, which values all voices—majority, minority and unspoken—and uses them to support inclusive group decision-making. Through this method, young people learn active listening, perspective-taking, managing tensions and creating safe dialogue spaces.

The action has two main objectives: training 25 young people as Deep Democracy facilitators and engaging 250 additional youth in SDG-focused dialogue sessions led by these facilitators.

Expected results include strengthened leadership and facilitation skills, deeper critical awareness of global issues, concrete SDG-related actions by all participants, and heightened sensitivity to gender equality and intersectionality.

Key activities include selecting 25 facilitators, delivering five Deep Democracy training sessions, organising at least 50 dialogue sessions, providing supervision and coaching, and using video testimonies from youth in Bolivia, Colombia and Uganda to connect discussions to real-world SDG experiences.

The action builds capacity, promotes inclusive dialogue and encourages meaningful behavioural change toward global citizenship.
