Youth-Led Global Citizenship for Reducing Inequality and Poverty

General information

Project name: Youth-Led Global Citizenship for Reducing Inequality and Poverty
Country: The Netherlands
Timeline: From 16 February 2026 to 15 February 2027
Lead Organisation: Kadowinja Foundation
Co-applicant: Kind Heart Organization

Summary of Action

Youths across Europe and Africa increasingly face social and economic inequalities that limit their participation in building fairer societies. In the Netherlands, many youths; especially those in diverse or low-income communities lack accessible pathways to global citizenship engagement, while young people in Kenya continue to experience poverty, unemployment, and social exclusion.

We aim to strengthen youth participation in global citizenship by connecting Dutch and Kenyan youth through artistic and community-driven activities that raise awareness, reshape narratives, and co-develop solutions to inequality. The purpose is to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and solidarity needed to take meaningful action towards reducing inequalities locally and globally.

Kadowinja will lead EU-based engagement, targeting Dutch youths aged 16–30 through interactive artistic events, storytelling exhibitions, youth dialogues, workshops, digital campaigns, and co-creation labs. These activities will represent 80% of the Action’s work. Kind Heart Organization Kenya will implement 20% of activities through youth art productions, visual storytelling on lived experiences of poverty, community showcases, and exchange dialogues that feed into the EU awareness programme.

Expected results include strengthened critical awareness among EU youth about global inequality, increased youth participation in global citizenship actions, and enhanced cross-regional solidarity through shared learning and co-created outputs.
